See you in 2011

16th December 2010

Thanks for listening to NSR this term. We’re taking a break over the holiday period and will return on January 10th. Don’t worry, we’re spending the time wisely by planning new shows, segments and DJs to keep you entertained right up till the summer.

Don’t be a stranger, see you in January!

John Cage

14th December 2010

John Cage 4-33This is a short article from a Northbrook Student encouraging you to support a handful of charities through purchasing John Cage’s 4’33″ this week. The album, which includes seven remixes by the likes of Mr. Scruff and Aeroplane, is only £2.50 on iTunes (or 99p for a single) and the money raised will support highly worthwhile music & youth charities such as:

C.A.L.M (Campaign Against Living Miserably)

Youth Music

British Tinnitus Association

Nordoff-Robbins (Music Therapy)

Sound & Music

If you, like me, feel that you don’t give enough to charity over the holiday period, this is a great way to donate a small amount to charities which are certainly relevant to your lifestyle and passion, as a music radio listener. You may also want to see it as a silent protest against the corporate machine selling manufactured pop music and giving nothing back at Christmas time. You might enjoy the pun “Cage against the Machine”, or the discussion of John Cage’s original score as a cornerstone of conceptual art. I have bought this album for all of these reasons, and encourage you to do the same, through clicking this link or visiting www.catm.co.uk

Ubershow

13th December 2010

Today is the 13th December and for many, the Christmas holidays have already commenced! But with every holiday comes boredom. If you know someone suffering from boredom between the hours of 18:00-21:00 this evening, give them the gift of Northbrook Student Radio’s Christmas Uber-Show, where there will be a quiz, live music and facts and jokes in abundance.

Tune in tonight (Monday) from 18.00 and join in our massive big phat Xmas party!

Snow’s Gone

6th December 2010

Our friend The Sun has cleared the snow from our studios, so we’re back on air! Also we’re excited to have our old friend Steve T back with us this Tuesday at 8, so be sure not to miss another week of great music from the South Coast.

Snowed Out!

1st December 2010

Hi everyone,

Sorry to say tonight’s broadcast is postponed due to snow falling around Tblock making it look all white and pretty. I think the snowfall may just be localised to the campus but I’m not sure.

See you next week!
